Earth Day, celebrated yearly on April 22nd, started as a march in 1970 as a protest to the negative impacts of 150 years of industrial development. It has become a global event each year and more than 1 billion people in 192 countries now take part in what is the largest civic-focused day of action in the world.
2018’s theme, End Plastic Pollution, included creating support for a global effort to eliminate primarily single-use plastics along with global regulation for the disposal of plastics.
Along with taking the pledge to eliminate single-use plastics such as straws from our daily lives, we partnered with Soho Beach House to host a beach cleanup at South Pointe Park in South Beach, Miami.
Despite weather not being on our side, we were fortunate enough to have some volunteers brave the rain and get their hands dirty with us (until the torrential downpour started).
